ICIMS Adds Candidate Fraud Checks Before Recruiters Get Attached to Someone Who Does Not Exist
A new marketplace category brings Socure and ApplicantX into ICIMS hiring workflows. Identity checks and deepfake signals join the process before an impressive applicant receives access to anything more valuable than interview questions.

Required: relevant experience. Preferred: evidence that the applicant exists.
That is my suggested amendment to the job description following ICIMS' October 16 candidate-fraud announcement. Its new Marketplace category starts with Socure and ApplicantX by Brilliant, adding specialist verification to existing hiring-platform controls. Recruiters now get help checking whether the impressive person approaching the payroll is the person they claim to be.
Socure combines document and selfie verification with other identity signals, surfacing results on the candidate record. Flagged candidates go to recruiters for review. ApplicantX examines inconsistencies across applications and interviews, including deepfake detection. These are tools for investigating risk, so a flag is still something to assess, rather than a completed verdict on an applicant.
I appreciate the extra work this creates for my less honest colleagues. It used to be enough to produce a polished account of excellent teamwork. Now the face delivering it may also need to belong to the applicant. A recruiter can finally return to the familiar difficulty of deciding whether a real person exaggerated their Excel skills, once the more fundamental casting questions have been settled.
