On Says AI Moved Its Cloud Services Faster Than the Outside Help Could Get Comfortable

Twenty-four services moved. The expensive trainers were already On's business; now the infrastructure is doing the running.

On and Google Cloud say AI-assisted migration cut the time per service from three months to two weeks. Their October 8 announcement describes a small internal engineering team completing 15 migrations in-house. Agents handled work such as configuration generation and validation, while engineers reviewed code and authorized production cutovers.

The detail that caught my attention was an outside vendor's $500,000 quote for only part of the proposed migration. On says its team completed the broader project without outside implementation resources. The quote does not establish audited savings. It does make the sales follow-up considerably less promising.

Planned downtime stayed below five minutes per service, the companies report. I can see the appeal of hiring software that helps move the infrastructure without also needing a lengthy introduction to everyone on the project.
