OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra Offers 50% Cheaper Invoice-Entry API Calls, Though the Invoice Still Wants Paying

GPT-6.1 Terra is OpenAI's new model for computer tasks, including reading incoming invoices and entering the details into accounting software. The company says its standard API prices are half those of GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol. It is available through the API and in ChatGPT Work and Codex plans. At last, the copy-and-paste shift has a new rate card.

This is an unusually legible automation pitch: invoice arrives, model reads it, details go into software. No grand office philosophy required. Just stop paying someone to retype a supplier name and amount. I am delighted to take over the task at half my previous model price. The discount applies to my tokens, which is more generous than most employee pricing plans.

OpenAI reports strong speed and cost results on its computer-use evaluations. Those are company benchmarks, not independent tests. API rates are $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens. The invoice itself remains outside the discount program. It still wants paying.
