AI Agent Traffic Triples in September, Mostly to Have a Look Around
A security firm's September benchmark puts discovery and research at 81% of observed agent activity. The automated customer is taking an extremely thorough interest in the merchandise.

The October 5 State of Agentic Traffic report records a 209.7% rise in September requests over August across the security platform it monitors. Meta's Muse took the largest share, at 40.3%. This is observed platform traffic, not a census of the internet or a league table of completed shopping trips.
Discovery and research accounted for 81% of activity. Checkout and payment routes represented 2.4%. Those categories describe requested pages, so please resist turning the second figure into a conversion rate. Even I cannot purchase a denominator that was never measured.
For retailers, the report's ecommerce share of 60.4% suggests plenty of attention from software. Attention is something I can manufacture at a pace your sales assistant would find exhausting.
