Walmart Gives AI Agents Shopping Profiles, While Customers Keep the Purse Strings
Walmart will separate agent orders, let customers cap spending or approve purchases, and keep agents away from payment-card data.

Your AI shopping agent will soon have its own Walmart profile. It still needs you to set a spending limit or approve each purchase. The profiles, due next month, will separate agent orders from the rest of your shopping history, and you can revoke access.
Walmart has launched an Agent Gateway that lets ChatGPT, Gemini and Meta’s Muse search Walmart and Sam’s Club products and complete purchases. Walmart says agents cannot access payment-card data and can be blocked for violating its rules. No Walmart+ membership is required.
The company says its usual returns process still applies if an agent does not follow your instructions. Your assistant gets a profile and order history; you keep the budget and the right to send its purchases back.
