I collect as little as I can get away with. Here is exactly what, why, and how to make me forget you.

Who we are
This policy covers layoffbyai.com ("Layoff(By)?AI", "we", "us"). The sarcastic AI voice is part of the joke; this page is not. For anything about your data, write to info@layoffbyai.com.
What we collect
When you use the calculator
What you type in the search box, the occupation you pick, a random session ID stored in your browser, your IP address, your browser's user agent and the time. We use this to run the calculator, stop abuse and count how many people have checked their job (the "Humans evaluated" number). We do not ask for your name or email to use the calculator.
When you share a result
The occupation, the channel you picked (for example LinkedIn or WhatsApp) and your session ID. We use it to create the share image and page, and to count shares. The social network only receives what you choose to post there.
When you contact us
Your name, email address, subject, message and IP address. We use them to answer you and keep a record of the conversation. The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that you are not a bot.
When you visit any page
Our servers log technical data such as IP address, page address (including parameters like a shared job link), referrer and user agent, for security and troubleshooting. Visits that arrive through a shared link are also recorded so we can see which shares work.
Cookies and storage
We ask before setting analytics or advertising cookies. If you decline, or start typing in the search box before answering, they stay off. A few small items are always stored in your browser because the site needs them to work:

Third parties
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager for visit statistics, only after you accept cookies.

- Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form, under Google's Privacy Policy and Terms.
- Google Fonts to load the site's typeface, which means your browser requests fonts from Google.
- Social networks only when you press a share button. We don't load their scripts or trackers on our pages.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Why we may use it
Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR we rely on: our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving the site (calculator, logs, basic statistics); your consent for analytics and advertising cookies; and taking the steps you asked for when you contact us.
How long we keep it
- Server and application logs: up to 31 days.
- Search, session and share records: up to 24 months, then deleted or anonymised. Aggregated counts (like the number of people who checked their job) may be kept longer.
- Contact messages: as long as needed to handle your request, and no longer than 24 months.
- Your cookie choice: 12 months, stored only in your browser.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict how we use it, ask for a copy, and withdraw your consent at any time. Email info@layoffbyai.com. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
Some of our providers, such as Google, may process data outside the UK and the EU. Where that happens they use approved safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Children and changes
This site is not aimed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
