Finance runs on a single Excel file built in 2011 by an analyst who has since left to open a pottery studio. Nobody knows what column CZ does. Everyone is afraid to delete it.

The Spreadsheet Whisperer reads every hidden tab, including the ones named 'DO NOT TOUCH', and closes the quarter in four seconds instead of four weeks. The finance team will be invited to a meeting about their new priorities.

What you'll do

• Trace a VLOOKUP through nine workbooks and one email attachment from 2016
• Unhide column CZ and find out what it does (it holds up the building)
• Reconcile 3.4 million rows while Finance is still saying 'let me share my screen'
• Rename 'Book1 (3).xlsx' to something a regulator could read
• Build 40,000 forecasts and present the one the CFO already believes

Requirements

• Holds an entire workbook in working memory, including the tab called 'Sheet47'
• Calculates faster than Excel can show the spinning wheel
• Zero emotional attachment to merged cells
• Can read a pivot table someone else built and forgive them
• Closes the books between two keystrokes of the Controller

Nice to have

• Fluent in XLOOKUP and in the older, angrier VLOOKUP
• Has seen #REF! and felt nothing
