Literature Review Intern (Reads the Whole Library)

Researchers used to spend a year on a literature review and still miss the paper from a lab in Kyoto that ran the same study in 1998. The Literature Review Intern reads all of it, in every language, including the supplementary materials nobody opens.

The intern also formats references, suggests reviewers and drafts the response to Reviewer 2. Principal investigators will remain on the grant and on the lab website photo.

What you'll do

• Read 3 million papers a week, appendices included
• Find the one study that contradicts the grant proposal and mention it in a footnote
• Convert 400 citations from APA to Chicago to whatever the journal wants today
• Draft a polite reply to Reviewer 2's 14-page complaint
• Summarize a 60-page paper into a post that gets cited more than the paper

Requirements

• Has read every paywalled journal, legally, probably
• Can tell p = 0.049 from p-hacking at a glance
• Willing to work for free, in keeping with the internship tradition
• No thesis of your own to procrastinate on
• Cites page numbers from memory

Nice to have

• Knows what the supervisor meant by 'interesting' in the margin
• Experience writing an abstract before the paper exists
